Okay, this is a long shot, but it's worth the try, I guess... Does anyone know the name of the guy who first came up with the idea of history lines? History lines are borders between different areas that determine the area's history, and not physical borders, but social, cultural, religious, etc. borders. For example: The history of the Netherlands has evolved differently than its neighbouring countries because it was never involved in WWI, or, the Scandinavian countries developed in a different way than countries in middle and south Europe because the Romans never got to the Scandinavian countries, or, something like that. I hope that makes sense.
Anyway, I like this idea and want to use in essays and such, but I for the life of me cannot remember what the guy's name was. Has anyone heard of this theory and knows the guy's name? I've tried Google, but it just comes up with time lines and that's not what I'm looking for. Mind you, I can't even remember if 'history lines' was the right name for the concept. Argh!
